EXPLANATION OF THE PRINCIPLE

A peristaltic pump contains a flexible tube, which performs both the suction and the compression of the liquid to be filled. This is achieved by manipulating the external of the tubing, e.g. by rollers. This means that the liquid (product) is only in contact with the tubing. No valves or other mechanical parts to be cleaned after the filling has been completed.

As the FDA and GMP rules are becoming more difficult and expensive to comply with, peristaltic filling is regarded as an attractive alternative to other filling principles, as cleaning is just a matter of exchanging the tubes.
